Track and Field Meet 2005 Finally.. i have the time to reflect on this event.. Sooner or later i think i muz do a reflection. hah.. might as well do first.. then can copy and paste.. ok.. initial thoughts.. the event have certainly changed my perspective of looking at a cone.. Initially, i thought it was juz for a soccer goalpost or used at a construction site. Now, i will think of the Inter-Cca novelty race when i see it. I remember during the process of planning.. i kept noticing that there were cones everywhere in Singapore. Never had i noticed so much the cones around Singapore. On a serious note, this event has helped me learn how to cope with time allocation and go in depth of what is planning all about. It is not just about planning a timetable, but it is also about meeting the deadline. Of course, there were problems encountered in any case of planning. My main problem was the communication to the CCAs. Some CCAs did not get the instruction sheet, some never hand back the reply slip. Worse still, those that signed up for the heats did not turn up. On the heats day itself, u think that it made your job easier by handling problems. But there's a bigger picture and problem when u realise that no teams are gonna qualify for the finals. Luckily, most teams turned up for the second heats. And you must know when to be flexible, whether to allow them to postpone or not. Till the final day, I thought that was the last of my problems. But, no. The teams almost did not report to the competitor steward. Had to make announcements several times.. Luckily managed to get my briefing across and lead the teams to the field. Job almost done. At the end of the staff race, it was time for my show. The gun fired. The race started. I ran across the field several times. Checking with the teams and Timers. Seeing the crowd enjoying the race, I felt so happy that the race is a success. I'm sure they will remember the race, especially the participants. | ||
